Industrial Gas Safety

We always want our customers to be safe and follow best practices when dealing with our gases in their restaurants and facilities. Please see below common safety tips and phone number for gas emergencies.

What to Do if You Smell Gas

  1. NO FLAME or SPARKS
Immediately put out smoking materials and other open flames. Do not operate lights, appliances, telephones, or cell phones. Turn off any vehicles that are around the area. Flames, sparks, or a hot exhaust can be a source of ignition.

  2. LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY
Safely and swiftly evacuate the Building, RV, or Area where you suspect gas is leaking.

  3. SHUT OFF THE GAS
Turn off main supply valve under the lid on your propane tank if safe to do so. To close the valve, turn to the right (clockwise).

  4. REPORT THE LEAK
From a neighbor’s house or other nearby building away from the gas leak, call our office right away 812-537-1300. If you can’t reach us, call 911 or your local fire department.

  5. DO NOT RETURN TO THE BUILDING OR AREA
Keep a safe distance away until one of our qualified service technicians or an emergency responder determines that it is safe to do so.

  6. GET YOUR SYSTEM CHECKED
Do not attempt to relight or use any of your propane appliances! One of our qualified service technicians must check your entire system to ensure that it is leak-free.
